Privacy policy
The short version
- Breeze is a media player. It does not host, store, supply, sell or recommend any channels, films, series, playlists or streams.
- You bring your own sources (an IPTV provider, add-ons). They are your choice and your responsibility, and the companies behind them are separate from Breeze.
- You need a Breeze account to use the app. You create it, together with your first profile, the first time you open Breeze.
- Your library, watch progress, settings and profiles are saved to your account so they follow you between devices. Your add-ons and provider logins are encrypted before they are uploaded, so we cannot read them.
- No ads, no tracking, no analytics or crash-reporting software, and we never sell or share your data for marketing.
- You can export or delete everything we hold about you from Settings → Account, at any time.
What Breeze is, and what it is not
Breeze is software that plays video from places you point it at. It contains no content of its own and does not provide, host, store, upload, index or distribute any streams, channels, subscriptions or playlists.
Breeze does not endorse, recommend, verify or have any relationship with any IPTV provider, playlist, add-on or other third-party service you connect, and it cannot check whether they are licensed or lawful where you live.
- You are solely responsible for what you connect to Breeze and what you watch, download or record with it, and for having the right to access it.
- Do not use Breeze to access content you have no right to access.
- If you believe content on a third-party service infringes your rights, please contact the service that hosts it. Breeze does not host or control it, so we cannot remove it.
What is kept on your device
Breeze keeps a working copy of your data on your device so it opens quickly and keeps working through a short loss of connection:
- Your IPTV provider details (server address, username, password) and any playlists you add, saved so your channels can play.
- A local copy of your library, watch progress, favourites, settings and profiles.
- Downloads and recordings, which are files on your device that belong to the profile that made them. They are never uploaded.
- Cached pictures, programme guides and channel lists, so the app loads faster.
- Your add-ons are held in memory while the app runs and are not written to your device's storage; they come down from your account each time you sign in.
Your Breeze account
You need a Breeze account to use the app, because your add-ons, sources, settings, themes and profiles live on it and follow you between your devices. You create the account, with your first profile, when you first open Breeze. We store:
- Your email address, used to sign you in, confirm your address and send password-reset links.
- Your password, which is stored only as a salted scrypt hash, never in readable form.
- Your profiles: their names, colours and pictures, and whether a profile is a kids profile.
- The records that sync so your library follows you: your library and lists, watch progress and watched marks, favourites and settings. These are stored so they can sync, which means we can technically see which titles they contain. We use them only to provide sync, never for advertising, profiling or analytics, and we never share them.
- A name for each signed-in device, so you can see where you are signed in, and short-lived technical data such as your IP address, used only to limit abuse and keep the service secure.
What is encrypted before it reaches us
Your add-ons, IPTV sources and provider logins, channel preferences, reminders, parental PINs and profile pictures are encrypted on your device with a key derived from your password (PBKDF2-SHA256 and AES-256-GCM) before they are uploaded. We store only the encrypted result and cannot read it, so we do not know which providers or add-ons you use.
The consequence is that if you forget your password and reset it by email, we cannot recover that encrypted data for you. It is restored from a device that is still signed in, or you add it again.
Services Breeze may contact
To work, the app talks to other services. Each one can see your internet address and the request itself, under its own privacy policy:
- Your IPTV provider or add-on servers, which you chose. They see your address and what you request, so they can know what you watch. This is the largest privacy factor in using any player, and we have no control over it. Read their policies.
- Public movie-information and subtitle services, which supply titles, posters, cast details and subtitles. Breeze is independent of all of them.
- Picture hosts used by those catalogues (for example TMDB and YouTube thumbnails) to show posters and artwork, and Wikipedia for cast photos.
- The IntroDB service, which receives a title's IMDb ID and season/episode so Breeze can offer Skip intro and Skip recap.
- An email delivery provider, which sends our account emails (confirmation and password reset) and so receives your address and the message.
- Public DNS services (Cloudflare 1.1.1.1, Google 8.8.8.8 and Quad9 9.9.9.9), used only as a fallback when your network's own name lookup fails. They receive the name of the server being looked up, not your account or what you watch.
- Our own sync server, run with a hosting provider, which holds your account.
Payments
When paid features are available, payment is handled by the app store you buy through or by a payment provider; we do not see or store your full card number. We keep a record of what you bought and when, so we can give you access and handle refunds, and we keep invoices as long as tax law requires.
What we do not do
- We do not sell, rent or trade personal information, and we do not share it for anyone's marketing.
- We do not run advertising or tracking, and Breeze contains no analytics or crash-reporting software.
- We do not read or log what you play, and we cannot see which providers and add-ons you use, because that data is encrypted before it reaches us. The library and progress records you sync are used only for sync.
- We do not build profiles of you or make automated decisions about you.
Network security
Calls to our servers use encrypted connections. Many IPTV providers deliver streams over plain, unencrypted HTTP, which means someone on the same network, and your internet provider, may be able to see what is being requested. Breeze can only use what your provider offers; a VPN can help if this matters to you.
No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot promise absolute security, but we protect what we hold with encryption, hashed passwords, rate limiting and access controls.
How long we keep information
- Account data is kept until you delete your account. Deleting it removes your email, profiles and synced records from our servers.
- Data stored only on your device stays there until you remove it or uninstall Breeze.
Your rights and choices
Wherever you live, you can use Settings → Account to download everything we hold about you or delete your account and its data at any time. Where the law gives you more (for example under the EU/UK GDPR, or in California), you may also:
- Ask for access to, correction of, or a portable copy of your personal data.
- Object to or ask us to limit certain processing, and withdraw consent you gave.
- Ask us to erase your data (the "right to be forgotten").
- Complain to your local data-protection authority.
Why we are allowed to handle your data (EU/UK)
- To provide the account and sync you asked for: performance of our agreement with you.
- To keep the service secure and prevent abuse: our legitimate interest.
- To send account emails you request, such as a password reset: performance of the agreement, and your request.
- To meet legal obligations, where they apply.
Children
Breeze is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. Kids profiles and parental PINs are controls for adults to manage what a household sees; they are stored on your device (and encrypted if synced). If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
Who is responsible, and where you can complain
Breeze is run from Slovenia, in the European Union. Services you or the app choose to contact (listed above) may process data in other countries; where data leaves the EU, we rely on the safeguards the law provides.
If you are in the EU you can complain to your national data-protection authority. In Slovenia that is the Information Commissioner (Informacijski pooblaščenec, ip-rs.si).
Changes to this policy
If we change what Breeze does with data, we will update this page and its date, and for meaningful changes we will tell you in the app before they take effect.
